Press release on the phone call between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Stephen Doughty, Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories of the United Kingdom
On 31 October 2024, phone call between Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Stephen Doughty, Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories of the United Kingdom took place.
During the phone call, cooperation agenda between two countries, as well as current regional situation, and Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process were addressed.
Parties expressed satisfaction with the cooperation particularly in the fields of energy, education, mutual investments, and others, as well as mentioned that the increased frequency of political dialogue between two countries, mutual visits, as well as restoration of the work of the intergovernmental cooperation commissions will stimulate the development of cooperation in new areas.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov comprehensively informed about Azerbaijan’s vision of sustainable peace building in the region, practical efforts in this direction, as well as peace process with Armenia. The existence of substantial progress in peace treaty talks, initiated by Azerbaijan, generally ongoing work for finalization of the draft treaty, at the same time existing territorial claims against our country in Armenian Constitution which is the main obstacle are mentioned.
During the phone call, various directions of cooperation in th field of alternative energy, SOCAR and BP’s solar energy projects, as well as preparatory matters of 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) were discussed.
During the phone call, opinions were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
